Batting first Walsham put together the biggest opening partnership of the season to date with captain Liam Bryant and Owston adding 136 after a watchful start against some good bowling from the Abberton openers House and Sawdon. Having lost Owston for a well made 44 Bryant looked to push the score along until the introduction of Booker saw his downfall for 78. Walsham finished with 197-4 with Jackson unbeaten on 41 and Baker with 16.
The Abberton reply began furiously with Sullivan and S. Trussler each striking 3 boundaries before falling to Rothon and Waugh respectively. Aside from former captain Moxon's 50 no further Abberton batsman could live with the Walsham bowlers. Waugh and Rothon each finished with 2 wickets. Forbes bowled another remarkable spell to take 4- 27.
An all round good performance from a Walsham team missing Campbell, Lynn and Nurse. More performances of this quality will be needed if the clubs ambition of another promotion is to be fulfilled.
