Another incorrect call at the toss saw Walsham batting first again. A better start this time with Bryant (38) and Lynn (16) scoring steadily without any alarms until Lynn was unfortunately bowled with the ball having hit a pad, a boot and finally the stumps. Baker came to the wicket and playing with attacking intent to score 20 odd at a good rate with some very well struck boundaries. Looking to up the run rate after drinks Bryant holed out to mid- on aiming over mid- wicket. Baker was out caught at slip shortly after and then following a small but entertaining partnership between George (12) and Forbes (24). When these two fell the remaining wickets were not able to add too many runs with the innings closing at 134 all out from 35.4 overs. Ben Whittaker the pick of Bury’s bowlers with 6-36.
After a single from the first over the Bury wicket fell in the 2nd over when Connor Daly ran out the opener from mid- on. Forbes the clean bowled the other opener and had Plumb caught behind in consecutive overs leaving Bury 12-3 after 5 overs. Whittaker looked to counter attack for Bury and struck several boundaries in his 33 but was caught at short third man off the bowling of Bryant. George then took over and took a couple of wickets in his spell of 11 overs taking 2-28. Forbes bowled his full allocation of 14 overs straight through and finished with figures of 14-8-24-2, an outstanding effort given that 13 of those runs came from 1 over. Rothon took over from Forbes and bowled well to take 2-25 from 8 and keeping things very tight towards the end. Bryant returned to bowl the last 5 overs from the opposite end and picked up the wicket of Skelton. Needing 15 to win from the last over Bury’s last pair were only able to manage 9 giving Walsham victory by 5 runs.
