Walsham invited Bury to have first use of another good looking pitch at Summer Road.
Bury started steadily against some good probing bowling from de Carvalho (15-5-39-1) and some less impressive medium/slow stuff from Bryant (7-2-28-0). Curran looked to push the score on and began to find the boundary before, in Rothon’s (10-0-66-1) first over, he holed out to Waugh at long off for 37. Stanton continued watchfully as George (10-0-61-4) was also brought into the attack but was caught and bowled looking to push down the ground for 29 with the score at 106. Before this, Bosman was almost run out without facing a ball as Bryant’s throw from point missed the stumps by millimetres. He then set about the bowlers and despite a delivery from Rothon seeming to clip his off stump but not disturbing the bails, swept, pulled and hoicked his way to 107* from 86 balls which included 9 fours and 6 sixes. Apart from Kizis (29), no one was able to provide much support to Bosman and Bury finished on 226-7 from their 45 overs. With Waugh (3-0-21-1) picking the last wicket to fall.
Walsham were off to a terrible start with both openers out before double figures had been reached. Jackson (30) and Lynn (36) built a partnership as boundaries flowed but with the score at 64 Jackson was dismissed by Whittaker and was followed shortly after by Lynn and Campbell. Baker (13) and de Carvalho (68) put together a partnership of 48 before Baker was out lbw for 13. Waugh (30*) and the big Aussie but on 53 before de Carvalho was caught in the deep for a very entertaining 68 from just 38 balls including 8 fours and 3 sixes. Despite the best efforts of Waugh and the tail end batters Walsham ran out of steam at 196 giving Bury victory by 30 runs. The wickets were shared around between Cook (2), Kizis (2), Whittaker (4) and Rajagopal (2).
