Visiting skipper Bryant called correctly at the toss and asked Bury to have a bat.
Forbes (11-4-17-3) and de Carvalho (5-1-14-1) started well with the ball and the opening batters had to work hard for every run with 4 maidens in the first 9 overs between them. A top edged de Carvalho bouncer had Curran caught at fine leg by Forbes from the fourth ball of his 5th over. Forbes continued bowling a very tight spell of quick bowling which allowed Bryant sneak 5 overs in before Rothon (12-3-25-3) and George (11.4-3-27-3) took over. Both bowled with great control and were assisted by sound catching and ground fielding to keep up the regular fall wickets throughout the 45 overs which meant that the Bury innings never really got going. The final wicket was taken as George had Kizis stumped by Scarce with two balls to go.
Walsham’s reply could not have started much worse as Scarce was out LBW for 0 in the second over and Bryant followed soon after for just 1. Jackson continued this seasons good form until Cook induced a nick behind to remove him for 18. Lynn (6) was the fourth Walsham wicket to fall when he edged to gully. Taylor Rothon and de Carvalho then added 33 with Rothon making 16 before he was out caught behind. This proved to be the final wicket to fall as sound defence and some lusty hitting meant that Waugh (5*) and de Carvalho (57*) were able to complete the chase 23.1 overs.
