On winning the toss, Walsham invited Felixstowe to have a bat- hoping to restrict the visitors and chase well.
Although Forbes (15-0-82-3) band deCarvalho (4-0-15-0) bowled well in their opening bursts, neither was able to make a break through despite beating the bat on numerous occasions. George (11-0-54-0) and Rothon (6-0-42-0) were brought on to bowl but still Walsham were not able to remove either Lloyd (63) or the very impressive Ben Hopkins (125*) as their partnership moved past 100 and then 150. Forbes returned to remove Lloyd and then Adam Hopkins the very next ball for 0. Bryant (9-0-48-1) then removed Heathcote, LBW for 0 meaning that Walsham had taken 3 wickets for 5 runs in 6 balls. Lawrenson then made a quick 19 before holing out to Jackson at long on and visiting skipper Jay made 30 not out to boost the total up to 250-4.
Walsham had a solid start to the reply with Bryant and Jackson putting on 50 runs in 13 overs before Jackson was caught on the boundary for 18. This brought the Star of the day Ben deCarvalho to the wicket and he signalled his intent early on as he struck Metzler over the old pavilion into the horse fields beyond for a mighty six to get up and running. The partnership had quickly moved on to 65 when Bryant was out LBW to Jay for 45. A 61 run partnership with Ben George (4), and a 14 run partnership with Baker (5) before Taylor Rothon came to the wicket at number 6. He made a very impressive 23* including 5 well struck boundaries in an unbroken stand of 64 with deCarvalho to see Walsham home with 3.4 overs to spare and with deCarvalho unbeaten on 154 including 12 fours and 11 sixes!
