Mistley II- Away

On winning the toss, the Mistley captain invited Walsham to bat on what looked a very good surface.Ash Forbes got the innings off to a frlying start with a couple of nicely played boundaries before playing all around a straight one to be bowled. L Bryant and Steve Owston built a partnership steadily until Bryant was out lbw with the score on 49. This brought Oli Jackson to the crease and from his first ball he looked in fine form going on to make a very stylish and well judged 65 including 3 sixes. Owston made 38, ad cameos towards the end from George, Baker, Rothon and Joe Bryant took the score up to 191-8- neither a bad score or very good score.

Ash Forbes started with a wicket in his first over and one a couple of overs later leaving Mistley 2 wickets down before they had really got going. A slow, steady partnership followed until the hard hitting number 4 was out caught at long off by Barry Lynn with one hand as he looked to move things along against the bowling of Rothon. With around 10 overs to go, Forbes was brought back into the attack and proceeded to take 3 more wickets which effectively ended Mistley’s run chase. Requiring around 24 from the last over Mistley finished up 18 runs short of the target and a game that had at one point like it was slipping away from Walsham was won. Forbes finished with 5 wickets and Rothon with one.

A good team performance and a very satisfying result.
