Having been invited to bat Walsham got off to another quick start as Campbell tucked into the opening bowlers. With the score at 68 and in Jolyon Kimmerling’s first over Campbell chased and nicked a ball wide outside his off stump through to the wicket keeper and was out for 38. Liam Bryant (31) and Jackson (0) fell soon after leaving the innings wobbling at 88- 3. Steve Owston and Barry Lynn re- built and slowly increased the scoring rate and added 80 before Owston was out caught behind for 52. Barry Lynn continued on his way and ended 78 not out (5 fours and 5 sixes) after the 45 overs. Other contributions were made by Forbes (15) and Baker (9no) towards the end leaving Walsham 235-6.
When Easton’s captain for the day A. Green was caught by Forbes at backward point of the bowling of Ali Waugh with the score at 12 and then 5 further wickets fell with the score in the 20’s the Easton reply was almost over before it started. These 6 wickets were shared between Ali Waugh (10-2-16-4) and Ash Forbes (8-2-14-2). Only Mills and Hall showed any resistance 11 and 28 respectively. Easton were eventually all out for 86.
A very impressive performance with bat and particularly in the field. Apart from one catch at long on and one stumping, all the wickets were caught behind square on the off side with no chances missed.
The run continues…
