Haverhill II- Away

Batting first, Walsham openers Lynn and Liam Bryant put on the best part of 100 before Lynn was dismissed by Wilkins for 36. Jackson looked untroubled and added a further 50 odd with Bryant before being out stumped off the bowling of Hartshorn for 23. George came and went having struck a couple of nice boundaries and Forbes couldn’t trouble the scorers as Walsham looked to push on towards the end of their innings. Waugh made 13 and Bryant passed 100 for the first time this season. The Walsham innings ended at 217-5 with Liam Bryant 124 not out and Joe Bryant 4 not out. Wilkins was the pick of the bowlers with 3-54.

Haverhill got off to a flying start as Daly and Forbes struggled to find a line and length. Hartshorn was in an aggressive and punished any wayward bowling. Liam Bryant (1-36) and Ben George (3-39) slowed the run rate a little and when Jackson (4-53) came on to bowl he and George gained a measure of control which caused the Haverhill batters to go looking for their runs. Jackson had Hartshorn well caught on the boundary and George had Phillips caught at mid- off before a partnership of 40 odd between S. Street and Dovaston dragged the score towards the 200 mark mark. Street was caught by Baker at slip and Dovaston was caught one handed over his head by Jackson back peddling at mid- off and this effectively ended Haverhill’s hopes. All out for 188 after 41.4 overs.

A big win for Walsham and a full 20 points to take back to Summer Road.
