On winning the toss another hot afternoon at Summer Road Walsham invited Brockley to bat.

Forbes (2-29) dismissed McCaffery caught behind for 9 after a couple of nice boundaries and then bowled Jones after a lusty blow over mid- off and a fortunate boundary gloved between the slip fielders. Bryant (2-19) then chipped in to bowl Fisher for 9 and Hurst for 1. Ben George and Mark Rothon then took over and apart from P. Webb (47), Firth (32) and Blackledge (27*) at number 10 no- one was able to hang around as George bowled his full allocation and took 3-68 and Rothon 1-44. Connor Daly affected the run out of Boreham with some good fielding on the cover boundary. Brockley finished on 172-9 from their 45 overs.

Walsham’s reply got off to a fast start as Campbell struck a few boundaries before he was bowled by Whiley for 16. Lynn came out at 3 and out caught behind to become the first of Firth’s (5-36) victims for the day. Bryant (30) and George(28) knocked the ball around and tried to build a partnership but Bryant was out bowled and George caught in the gully when trying to work into the leg side. Waugh (13) played a couple of nice shots through the covers before he was out LBW and Forbes (25) batted nicely before a rush of blood saw him caught at mid- off. Taylor Rothon was unfortunate to pick out square leg with a hard hit pull shot which left Baker as the last batsman with plenty to do. When Rothon Snr was out Connor Daly and Baker mixed good running with the odd boundary as they took Walsham from dead and buried to almost there. Daly (13) was out caught on the boundary at the start of the last over having taken 2 from the first ball. This meant that Baker was on strike. With 3 required to win from the last ball of the innings Baker managed 2 to secure a tie.

All in all probably a fair result but disappointing that on the batters who got a start could see the side through to a win.
