Bowling combined with solid batting secures points...

Bowling first on a slightly tacky pitch, Walsham started well by picking up the wicket of Adam Green for just 1 run- bowled by Liam Bryant. There then followed a partnership between Polley and Harper in which Polley scored the vast majority of the runs as Bryant and Forbes kept things tight. Bryant bowled Polley for 28 and then Sayer for 0 leaving Easton 3 down with around 60 on the board after 20 overs. Forbes continued to bowl well and keep things tight along with Rothon who replaced Bryant (3-11 from 9 overs). When Connor Daly (1-30 from 9) replaced Forbes (0-67 from 15) he found some assistance from the pitch to make it hard for the Easton batters to score freely as they tried to push things along. Harper was caught at square leg off Rothon (2- 41 off 13) and Wright at cover of Daly bringing Taylor and Fuller together. This partnership took the home side past 100 and towards 150 and also made a very good effort from Forbes look a little less tidy as they used the extra pace on offer to score quicker. Taylor was out stumped by Owston off the bowling of Rothon with 1.3 overs left and Fuller finished 25 not out and Fiske 9 not out and the total 154-6 from 45. A good effort from bowlers and fielders in particular Joe Bryant who covered a lot of ground and on another day might have taken a couple of very impressive catches.

The Walsham reply started watchfully, mindful that the side was missing several key batters. Bad balls were put away as the still quick outfield helped anything finding a gap race to the boundary. As both Bryant and Owston got into their stride the home bowlers struggled to build any pressure. Attmere had the first success for the home side with around 20 runs required as he bowled Bryant for 59 which included 5 fours and three sixes. Owston continued on his way to finish 77 not out with ten fours and a six. Waugh was dismissed LBW with one run needed allowing Forbes to stride out and edge a quick single from his first ball to finish things off. Walsham getting home with 18.1 overs to spare and taking 18 important points back to Summer Road.
