Once again Bryant lost the toss and Walsham were asked to bat first in a game reduced to 80 overs. Dunmow’s opening bowlers were straight into their work with Lynn caught behind for just 2 runs early on. Baker then added a few runs to the score with some nice shots before he was bowled by a very good ball which swung away from his forward defensive shot to clip the top of off stump. Neither George or Forbes were able to trouble the scorers greatly with both falling to Gibson. This brought Joe Bryant out to bat with Liam Bryant and as is the norm in such situations, the two were unable to add many to the score before one was dismissed- Liam Bryant well caught at second slip after a watchful 23. Joe Bryant looked to grow with confidence with every ball he faced and ended up finishing 31 not out which included 2 6’s and a 4. A partnership with French of 37 was the highest of the innings and it took the Walsham score towards 100. After the last few batters fell Walsham finished with 111 to defend.
The Dunmow openers started quickly and Gallant in particular found a few early boundaries before he was caught by Forbes at fine leg from a top edged hook shot giving Liam Bryant what proved to be the only wicket of the innings. After this Swanston (32*) knocked the ball around nicely and Rooney (63*) punished anything off line to see the home side to victory in 25 overs.
