On winning the toss, Walsham invited Woolpit to have first use of the first pitch of the season at Summer Road.
Woolpit started solidly with Pilgrim and young George Tilbrook showing resolve to survive good testing opening spells from Forbes and de Carvalho. After a stand of 81 between the openers Ben George dipped one under the bat of Pilgrim to bowl him for 36 from 72 balls. Tilbrook continued to play the anchor role and Routledge looked to push the scoring rate up. He struck a four and a six before retiring hurt after falling awkwardly when taking a quick single. James Holmes and Stuart Lilley also looked to push things along before they were bowled by Rothon for 1 and Run out by Ash Forbes for 4 respectively. Starling finished the innings with a few boundaries to boost the total up to a respectable but slightly below par 159- 3 with Tilbrook finishing with a well-made 75 from 119.
The Walsham reply started steadily as Bryant and Scarce looked to set the chase up. Scarce was the first man out for 23 out of an opening stand of 45. Jackson joined Bryant and in 5 or 6 overs either side of drinks the pair took the score up past 100 before Bryant was out for 52 with the score at 111-2. Shifted up the order in an effort to ensure the chase was finished before any further showers could finish the game de Carvalho blasted a quick 18 including a mighty hit over midwicket for six before Jackson (59*) and Lynn (5*) finished the job off with just over eight overs to spare.
